James A. Murphy, Sr. Partner
Jim received his BA from UCLA in 1967, and an MBA from California State University at Long Beach in 1969, after which he served as a captain in the Marine Corps. Upon returning to civilian life, he worked as a vice president of a local computer company, and then attended Western State University College of Law where he graduated, Cum Laude, in 1978 after having served as an Editor of the Law Review.
His practice focuses on employment law, having served as senior counsel for Sears, Roebuck and Co. handling labor and employment matters in the 14 western states for thirteen years before joining the Firm in 1991. He has been Chair of the Human Resources Committee of the Orange County Business Council and the Chamber of Commerce, served on the advisory committee for the Masters in Human Resources at Chapman University, is the legal advisor to the City of Santa Ana Personnel Board, and is a regular contributor to the Orange County Business Journal on issues of employment and labor law.
