Business Litigation

Litigation is a cornerstone of the Firm’s practice. A number of Firm members have extensive experience in litigating a wide array of matters in State and Federal Courts and in various arbitration and administrative forums. The Firm is aggressive in representing its clients, but favors intelligent alternatives to wasteful lawsuits and counsels dispute avoidance wherever appropriate.

Business Litigation
The Firm handles a wide variety of business litigation, including such matters as collection actions; contract, lease, franchise and company ownership disputes; and trade secret, trademark infringement, copyright and unfair competition claims.

Employment Litigation
The Firm routinely handles all manner of employment-related litigation including wrongful termination, discrimination, sexual harassment and wage and hour claims.

Elder Law Claims
The Firm represents residential care facilities, assisted living facilities, shelters for the developmentally disabled and foster care agencies concerning claims of neglect, professional negligence, elder abuse and Health and Safety Code violations.

Insurance Coverage/Bad Faith
The Firm’s insurance attorneys routinely handle both insurance coverage litigation and the defense of bad faith claims.

Probate and Trust Disputes
The Firm's attorneys are experienced in guiding clients through the handling of assets in probate and trust administration, and in resolving will contests and trust litigation.

Professional Malpractice Defense
Focusing largely on claims against architectural and engineering firms, a substantial portion of the Firm’s practice has been devoted to the defense of professional malpractice claims for over 25 years.

Tax Collection and Settlements
The Firm represents businesses and individuals in tax disputes with the IRS, the EDD and State Board of Equalization, ranging from the negotiation of payment plans and compromises to the handling of administrative hearings and court trials.
